Policies

Policy Highlights

Guest Registration:

A lifeguard positioned in the parking lot on busy days will assist in directing members and guests to the beach office where they may be properly registered and issued a guest wrist band. Our intent is to account for the people entering the grounds and maintain the privacy of your membership. We are asking that all members identify themselves by displaying their badges when entering and while at the facility. All guests must be registered. A first violation of this policy will result in suspension of membership. The second violation will result in termination. Please comply with this policy without issue.

Barbecues & Picnic Tables:

One of the most popular areas of our facility. In fairness to all, barbecue pits & tables may not be reserved. Large groups setting up in the early hours make it unreasonable for a small group to just prepare for grilling or basket lunches. Please be considerate of your fellow members.

Diapers & Changing Practices:

Provided in our Ladies & Men’s locker rooms are diaper changing areas. We require that these areas be used. Changing on the beach or in our picnic areas is inconsiderate to other members.
CHILDREN IN DIAPERS ARE NOT ALLOWED IN THE SWIMMING WATER.
WE REQUEST THAT THESE LITTLE MEMBERS BE DRESSING IN “LITTLE SWIMMERS” DISPOSABLE SWIM PANTS. THIS WILL PROTECT AGAINST THE POSSIBILITY OF WATER CONTAMINATION. THERE ARE MANY STEPS WE CAN TAKE TO MAINTAIN HEALTHY AND SAFE SWIMMING WATER; THIS IS AN OBVIOUS ONE. PLEASE CHECK WITH THE BEACH OFFICE. WE INTEND TO HAVE THIS ITEM AVAILABLE FOR YOUR PURCHASE.

Club Closing:

During the heat of the summer, as has been our practice for many years, the beach front will close at 7:30 PM. Our lifeguards will then have closing chores to do. That is why we request that members staying on the grounds confine themselves to the playgrounds, picnic, and grassy areas. While there are no guards on duty in the chairs, our staff will begin their closing responsibilities without concern for wayward swimmers. By 8:15 PM, we expect members and guests to be vacating the grounds. In each of these stated reminders, we are asking for your cooperation.
We will do our very best to provide you with a clean, healthy, enjoyable summer season at Copper Springs.

Swimming Rules

EMBLEMS MUST BE WORN BY ALL MEMBERS UNDER 13 YEARS OF AGE.

If properly tested and qualified as shown on the bulletin board, children under 13 years of age will be allowed on the dock; otherwise, they are restricted to the near beach.

SWIMMING TESTS ARE REQUIRED OF GUESTS UNDER 15 YEARS OF AGE.

The staff member at the office will indicate to the member-host the lifeguard who will administer the qualification test to the guest. Members must stay with guests unless they are age 15 and over and have passed the Club guest test.

CHILDREN MUST BE QUALIFIED AS GOLD FISH AND 14 YEARS OLD IF THEY ARE TO BE LEFT WITHOUT FAMILY SUPERVISION AT THE CLUB. However, members may not have a 14 year old family member perform as a babysitter for a younger family member. Please do not leave or drop off at the club any family member who is under 14 years old. Babysitters on staff are here to help you 7 days a week. Charge is $10 per hour. Each additional child in the same family is $5 per hour.

SWIMMING IS PERMITTED ONLY WHEN LIFEGUARDS ARE ON DUTY.

Flippers and goggles are allowed. Other aquatic devices, including masks and snorkels, are allowed when special permission is granted. Consult Manager.

Swimming under the float, dock or competitive swim platforms is dangerous and is not permitted.

Non-swimmers (Red and Blue Frogs) may not accompany adults on the dock or on the sand behind the dock. At those times when special events are held at the swim lanes, a non-swimmer may accompany a parent on the sand or grass.

No diving or jumping off red areas of the dock. Observe water depth signs on the dock.

Persons using the slide must be in a sitting or prone position, head first. Backward or standing positions are specifically forbidden.

It is important for our elder members to be accompanied by a swim buddy when in the pond. If there is no one available, please make sure to notify the lifeguard of your swimming location. This is for YOUR protection.

Parents must be responsible for their children’s whereabouts and behavior at all times. Parents must make children aware of the rules pertaining to the fitness equipment and the emblem system when swimming in the pond.

Missing Child Procedures

1. When a child is missing, the parent or guardian who is missing their child should go immediately to the guard on the main beach chair and relay the following information:

A. Child’s Name

B. Child’s Age and Description

C. Child’s Suit Color

D. Child’s Emblem

E. Where the child was last seen

2. This information is to be stated repeatedly over the megaphone by the guard on the main beach chair.

3. After this information is obtained, the guard will stand and blow 5 whistles. This is done so that the other guards and members are aware that there is a missing child situation.

4. At this point, the waterfront should be cleared so that members, 13 years of age or older, can begin assisting the guards in forming a human chain at both ends of the shallow water. Participation by the members is essential!

A. The chain should be formed by guards and members linking arms, pulling as closely together as possible.

B. The guard on main beach chair will signal both lines when to begin progressing forward. (It is important to walk slowly and shuffle your feet as much as possible.)

C. The lines will progress forward until they meet. At this point, if the child is not found, participants in the chain should unlink arms, turn around, link arms again, and repeat the procedure in the opposite direction.

5. Two guards will immediately go to the spot where the child was last seen; only guards will participate in deep water search. Office staff will search locker rooms, playground areas, parking lot, and racquet center.

6. When the child is found, he/she should be brought promptly to the main beach chair, so that the search can be brought to a halt. NOTE: We recommend that only a few adults remain on the beach and watch their children and their friends’ children. This will enable more adults to participate in the human chain. We would also recommend that the parents of young children take the time out to explain the 5 whistle procedure to their children. It is essential for each child to know where he/she is supposed to go in this situation.

7. Drills will be performed once every 3 weeks.

Liability Disclaimer

Your attention is called on two important points. The Club is not responsible for injury to members or their guests. This is in accordance with the agreement signed by each member at time of application to membership. Also, members are responsible for ensuring that their guests know and observe Club rules and regulations, since members are answerable and accountable for the conduct of their guests.

Guest Policy

The following explanations are intended to clarify guest rules and procedures and do not supersede any Club rule currently in effect. It is suggested that each member review the guest rules when entertaining.

GUEST IDENTIFICATION & GENERAL INFORMATION

1. A guest is defined as a person using any club facilities (picnic area, patio, beach front, porch, tennis courts or decks) and as such must be registered by the member upon entering the club grounds.

2. A GUEST IS REGISTERED UPON ARRIVAL AT THE CLUB OFFICE BY THE MEMBER-HOST. A guest wrist band is to be obtained and it is to be worn by the guest while he or she is at the Club. Please observe sign-in procedures posted at the Club pertinent to specific activities. During spring and fall, tennis guests are to be signed in on the guest sign-in sheets at The Racquet Center before play.

3. Members must accompany their guests to the Club, except in the case of house guests once they have been introduced to the Club.

4. All guests under age 15 must take a swimming test before using any waterfront area other than the main beach. An explanation of the test may be obtained at the office.

5. All guests will be limited to “4″ (four) visits per season.

HOUSE GUESTS

A member may introduce a house guest to the Club and obtain a guest badge for his or her use. After this original introduction, a member does not have to accompany house guests to the Club on each visit unless the member elects to sign-in house guest each day at the regular daily guest rate. A member may elect to register house guests for a period of a week upon payment of a flat fee of $50 per guest which entitles the guest to the use of all Club facilities.

GUEST LIMITATIONS

Members may bring four or fewer guests to the Club at any time without making arrangements in advance. Five or more guests on any day constitutes a “party” for Club purposes, and a member must make reservations 5 days in advance. If the Club can accommodate your party, it will endeavor to do so; however, the Club Manager may refuse to register guests in excess of 4 if the day is a busy one at the Club.

The seasons are as follows: SWIMMING SEASON: Memorial Day weekend thru Labor Day. TENNIS SEASON: Mid-April to Mid-October.

Bonafide Party Guests in the case of children’s parties, such as a birthday party, are accorded special exception. Providing the adult host makes the request to the Manager of Program Director 5 days in advance of the party, provides a list of guests who will attend the party, and makes arrangements for any additional staff (if deemed necessary by the Club Program Director or Manager), a child who has already visited the Club 4 times will not be allowed guest privileges. This policy developed as a result of situations which would otherwise be difficult or embarrassing for the member-host. When planning your function please fill out children’s party form available at beach office.
